Introduction to Global Maritime Legal Solutions (GMLS)

GMLS has studies and provided products in the Southern African Customs Union (“SACU”) of the World Customs Organisation (“WCO”). GMLS is associated with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Unit for Maritime Commerce & Customs and Excise) to provide a full range of qualifications at first Degree, Post Graduate and Masters Degree levels in international trade, with particular focus on international trade and legal Customs compliance.

The organisation is accredited by the transport SETA (TETA) to provide training and assessment across a wide variety of Customs, international trade and logistics unit standards and qualifications.

GMLS also acts as the resource body for subject matter experts in Customs and Excise for Lexis Nexis, several institutions of higher learning and other training providers.

Our vision is to build a sustainable facility which specialises in the provision of learnerships, skills programmes, lectures, seminars, conferences, workshops and similar education and training products in the field of Customs compliance, global supply chain management, areas associated with international trade facilitation and capacity building initiatives.
